Johnny Lightning 1967 CAMARO SS, Sunoco DIORAMA - selten NUR USA - NEUWERTIG

This listing is for a great Johnny Lightning 1/64 scale diorama  featuring a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS ,  finished in the nice rich Blue  of the Penske Racing Team  with Sunoco sponsorship.   It is set in a Sunoco racing garage and titled Filling Up for Today's Race!

This is an official product licensed by General Motors.

It is in  BRAND NEW  -  UNOPENED  -  MINT condition.

This is the one that caused all the trouble!  In 1967 Ford and Mercury both took 4 wins in the  Sports Car Club of America - Trans Am Championship , with Ford taking the title, Mercury coming 2nd and Chevrolet taking third overall, with 3 wins.

Naturally Chevrolet wanted the title themselves.  What nobody saw coming, was that Penske Racing Team  would use this 'lightweight' car from '67 (which didn't meet '68 regs) to qualify for races, before swapping the numbers on to the 'legal' '68 model cars!  Mark Donohue  promptly won 10 out of 13 races and walked off with the 1968 title, having used this car for qualifying!  So began the legendary Ford v Chevrolet wars!

Ford fought back with  two teams of Mustangs, run by Shelby American Racing  and Bud Moore Engineering .  The result?  Chevrolet won the Championship in 1969 as well!  I also have models of both these Mustangs and their Transporters - please see my other listings.

Johnny Lightning  have certainly picked some legendary subject matter for their 50 Years celebration series.   This is a great model representing a famous moment in racing history and hard to find in the UK.
