Jacket is in wonderful condition and has been well preserved. Leather or horsehide is very soft and wool blanket lining is in wonderful condition for its age, with very few holes- see photos. Measures approx 30" armpit to armpit and 39" total length. Unsure of actual size, but considering that I wear a 44-46, this jacket seems to be a 40-42 in modern jackets. Very heavy and warm.
My limited research found this type of jacket made in the 1910's and 1920's for barnstorming in open air planes - much like the Red Baron. However, I'm not an expert and have not had this piece appraised. Please email your questions.
